Onuachu, Dele-Bashiru Confident Super Eagles Will Triumph Over Tunisia In Crucial AFCON Clash
According to Ireporter Online, Super Eagles forwards Paul Onuachu and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru have expressed confidence that Nigeria possesses the motivation and quality to secure a crucial result against Tunisia in Saturday’s Group C showdown at the Complexe Sportif de Fès.
Both teams currently sit on three points after victories in their opening matches, making the upcoming clash a pivotal encounter that could determine the group’s leader.
Onuachu, who has had an outstanding season with Trabzonspor, emphasized that Nigeria has the squad and talent to advance deep into the tournament, provided the team maintains focus on each match.
“Nigeria is a big footballing nation, and Tunisia is also strong, but we have a good team capable of taking it to the next level,” Onuachu said. “There are many strong teams, and while we aim to win the AFCON, we must take it one game at a time.”
The former Genk striker, who came off the bench in Nigeria’s 2-1 win over Tanzania, is hoping to play a more significant role as the Super Eagles target qualification to the knockout stages with a game to spare.
Dele-Bashiru echoed his teammate’s determination, highlighting that participating in the Africa Cup of Nations itself serves as strong motivation. The Lazio midfielder also featured as a substitute in the opener and stressed the importance of Saturday’s match.
“Just being part of the AFCON motivates us to push for victory,” Dele-Bashiru told reporters. “It’s a critical game if we want to finish top of the group, and we will do everything possible to achieve that.”
A win on Saturday would ensure automatic progression to the knockout rounds for either team and guarantee first place in Group C ahead of the final fixtures. Kick-off is scheduled for 9pm Nigerian time.
