PDP Is Not Dead – Bode George Declares Party’s Resurrection After Bitter Lessons!”
Elder statesman and prominent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Bode George, has asserted that the party has acknowledged its mistakes and drawn valuable lessons from its setbacks.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today following the PDP’s pivotal National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on Tuesday, George emphasized that the party is experiencing a revival.
He likened the PDP to an Iroko tree—strong and deeply rooted—stating that despite challenges, the party remains unshaken and far from dead.
“This is our resurrection day. The PDP is like an Iroko tree; its roots are too deep to be uprooted,” George remarked.
He lamented that some individuals had deviated from the vision of the party’s founding fathers due to selfish interests, which had contributed to the internal crisis.
“We’ve learned our lesson, and that learning process began with yesterday’s and today’s meetings. It reminded me of the height of our influence as a party. I left the NEC session feeling renewed and energized,” he said.
George stressed that the NEC gathering served as a moment of reflection and accountability, adding, “No single person owns the PDP. This is a collective movement, not a personal enterprise.”
He also noted that the Chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT), Senator Adolphus Wabara, urged members to abandon selfish pursuits and embrace a spirit of selflessness for the good of the party and the nation.
