Reasons Why Chicago State University Should Not Release My Academic Records To Atiku – Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu has intensified his legal battle to prevent Chicago State University from releasing his academic records to rival presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

This move comes after Tinubu secured a temporary suspension of the court’s earlier order to release the documents.

In a detailed objection filed by his lawyer, Oluwole Afolabi, Tinubu presents two key arguments.

Firstly, he asserts that the academic records in question hold no relevance in Nigerian courts, as they have historically shown little receptivity to such discoveries.

Secondly, he argues that Atiku’s request constitutes an unwarranted intrusion into his private and confidential educational records. Tinubu further emphasizes that past unlawful releases of his documents have led to confusion and conspiracy theories.

The legal dispute originated from Atiku Abubakar’s application filed in the US district court, requesting Chicago State University to release Tinubu’s academic records. Atiku sought these documents to challenge the authenticity of Tinubu’s presented certificate in the 2023 Nigerian presidential election.

He contended that discrepancies existed between two diplomas bearing Tinubu’s name, leading him to question their authenticity. Despite Tinubu’s legal objection, Atiku had initially obtained a court order to access the documents.

However, Tinubu argues that the Nigerian courts have demonstrated reluctance to accept such discoveries. Additionally, he maintains that Atiku’s request delves beyond the scope of the diploma submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and constitutes an intrusive fishing expedition into his private records.

Furthermore, Tinubu asserts that past unauthorized releases of his documents have already led to misinformation and conspiracy theories.
