Tinubu Hails First Lady As ‘My Truest Friend And Confidante’ At 66

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has celebrated First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu as she marks her 66th birthday, describing her as his “truest friend and confidante” and praising her for standing by him through difficult and uncertain periods.

In a personal birthday message issued on Monday, September 21, 2026, Tinubu reflected on their years together, commending his wife for her patience, courage, honesty and commitment to their family.

According to the President, Oluremi has remained a source of counsel and support throughout their journey, particularly during periods when he faced difficult decisions and uncertainty.

Tinubu said his wife had not only shared in his successes but had also carried some of the burdens that came with their journey, noting that her presence and prayers had provided comfort during challenging moments.

The President described Oluremi as someone who understands him deeply and is willing to offer honest counsel, even when the truth may be difficult to hear.

He also praised her contribution to their family, saying their children and grandchildren had grown under the influence of her prayers, faith and values.

Beyond her role within the family, Tinubu highlighted the First Lady’s humanitarian activities, noting that her initiatives had provided support to vulnerable Nigerians, including children, widows, elderly citizens and women farmers.

According to him, her humanitarian efforts date back to the New Era Foundation during their years in Lagos and have continued through the Renewed Hope Initiative.

Tinubu also commended her advocacy and support for people affected by tuberculosis and other health challenges, describing her as compassionate and committed to helping people in need.

The President said Oluremi’s compassion had extended beyond ethnic, regional and religious boundaries, adding that she had supported people even without personally knowing them.

Reflecting on their marriage, Tinubu said the couple had travelled a long road together and had shared difficult decisions, sacrifices, laughter and prayers throughout the years.

He expressed gratitude for the life they had built together and said that if he were given the opportunity to start over, he would still choose the same path that led him to her.

Tinubu wished the First Lady many more years in good health and happiness, praying that the years ahead would bring her the same comfort and joy she had given him and many others.

The State House statement identified Oluremi Tinubu as Nigeria’s First Lady and noted that she previously served as a senator representing Lagos Central from 2011 to 2023.
