Two Arrested In Connection With Killing Of 8-Year-Old Boy In Delta
The Delta State Police Command has taken into custody Mr. Destiny Ogbeh and his master for the alleged murder of Progress Agidi, an eight-year-old boy, for ritualistic purposes…READ MORE…
According to reports, Destiny Ogbeh, an apprentice to a local native doctor, allegedly lured Progress into the bush under the pretense of gathering firewood, where the child was ultimately killed.
Sources indicate that Ogbeh was reportedly paid N30,000 to entice the boy. Mr. Ifeanyi Agidi, the father of the deceased, recounted to Vanguard how he started searching for his son on November 23, 2024, after he noticed Progress was missing.
“I’m Ifeanyi Agidi, residing on Efeizomor, Eboigbe Street, Owa Alero, in Ika North-East LGA of Delta State. I work as a roadside vulcaniser. On November 23, I realized my eight-year-old son, Progress, was suddenly missing. My wife and I, along with the family, immediately began searching the area but could not find him.
“Later, we were informed that Destiny Ogbeh had told Progress to go with him to the bush for firewood. We approached the native doctor’s house where Ogbeh was an apprentice, but both he and his master denied seeing my son.
“After searching extensively without results, we went to the nearby Owa Oyibu police station to file a report. However, we were advised to continue searching since it had not yet been 24 hours since Progress disappeared.
“Eventually, the village vigilante group joined the effort to locate the missing child. Tragically, we later found my son’s lifeless body in an unfinished building close to the bush. His throat had been slit, and he had been drained of blood, indicating a ritual killing.
The police were alerted and took the body to the mortuary. They initiated a manhunt for Destiny Ogbeh and his master, who had fled the area. They were subsequently captured, and Ogbeh confessed to luring my son into the bush to be killed for a promised payment of N30,000. He also mentioned another native doctor named Dr. Jonah, implicated in the crime, who resides in Otolokpo, a nearby town.
Attempts to reach the state’s Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, for a comment were unsuccessful as the call went unanswered.
