‘Without Coaches, No Victory’ —Adeboye Urges Tinubu to Reconsider Super Falcons’ Reward Split

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has advised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to reconsider the reward structure extended to Nigeria’s victorious Super Falcons following their triumph at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

According to IReporter Online, President Tinubu had recently honoured the team with $100,000 and a three-bedroom house each after their dramatic comeback win in Morocco. Members of the technical team were also rewarded with $50,000 and a three-bedroom apartment in the Renewed Hope Housing Estate. The announcement was made during a formal reception held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where national honours were also conferred on the players and officials.

While commending the President for his generosity and recognition of excellence, Pastor Adeboye, during his sermon on Sunday at RCCG, expressed his view that coaches should not receive less than players. The respected cleric, who is also a former sportsman, emphasized the crucial role of tactical leadership in sports victories.

He maintained that while the players executed the match strategy, it was the coaches who crafted the game plan and provided the direction necessary to win. Without the guidance and wisdom of the coaching team, he argued, the players might not have achieved such success.

“You need a coach to win,” Pastor Adeboye said. “Coaches have the knowledge and wisdom required to win. If you don’t know how to win, you will lose.” He added that wisdom is superior to physical strength, and that the true victory lies in strategic preparation and leadership.

Pastor Adeboye’s comments have sparked renewed debate on the distribution of rewards in Nigerian sports, with some agreeing that technical teams deserve parity in recognition, given their pivotal, though often overlooked, contributions behind the scenes.
