35-Year-Old Man Arrested For Allegedly R@ping 11-Year-Old Girl, Threatening To K!ll Her In Plateau
The Plateau State Police Command has arrested a 35-year-old man, identified as Saleh Abdullahi, over the alleged sexual assault of an 11-year-old girl.
The State Commissioner of Police, Ayodeji Faniyan, disclosed this on Friday while briefing journalists at the Command Headquarters in Jos on operational breakthroughs recorded by the command.
According to the police commissioner, the suspect allegedly threatened to kill the minor if she disclosed the incident to anyone.
Faniyan said the incident came to light after the victim’s cousin noticed that the 11-year-old was walking abnormally and experiencing difficulty while urinating.
The commissioner said the minor subsequently alleged that on August 19, 2026, she had gone to Abdullahi’s residence on an errand to grind maize when he allegedly lured her into his room and sexually assaulted her.
According to the police, the girl also alleged that the suspect threatened her with death to prevent her from telling anyone about the incident.
The victim was subsequently taken to a hospital for medical examination, while the suspect was arrested and is currently assisting with the investigation.
Faniyan said the police would prosecute the suspect upon completion of the investigation.
The commissioner also disclosed that the command had arrested 31 other suspects in connection with various offences, including kidnapping, human trafficking and rape, during operations across the state.
He added that the police recovered 10 rifles and 54 rounds of live ammunition during the operations.
The command said investigations into the cases are ongoing.
