In his statement, Okiro expressed disappointment that the court did not invite him to present his side before issuing the order. He stressed that the ruling, which questioned his indigene status, contradicts verified facts, including official documents and testimony from his traditional ruler in Rivers State.

Despite the setback, Okiro pledged to respect the rule of law, underscoring his commitment to democracy and justice. He has instructed his legal team to challenge the court’s decision, ensuring the principles of natural justice are upheld. Okiro also called for unity among his supporters across the Igbo-speaking regions of Nigeria, emphasizing that his withdrawal should not undermine the progress of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
