2027: “Anyone Ruling Out Northern Support For Tinubu Is Wrong” — Ganduje

According to Ireporter Online, former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has expressed strong confidence that voters in Northern Nigeria will rally behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

Ganduje made the assertion on Friday in Abuja while receiving a delegation of Northern Nigeria Youth Leaders drawn from the 19 northern states, who paid him a courtesy visit and honoured him as a patron of the forum.

Addressing the delegation, the former Kano State governor described President Tinubu as the most qualified leader to continue steering the country beyond 2027, dismissing claims that the North may withdraw its support for the President. He warned that such assumptions were misguided and far from reality.

Ganduje said President Tinubu’s political background, democratic credentials and long-standing commitment to national unity set him apart from other contenders. He recalled Tinubu’s role in Nigeria’s democratic struggle, noting that the President endured significant sacrifices, including exile, to ensure the survival of democracy in the country.

He further commended the President’s economic reforms, stating that despite being in office for less than four years, Tinubu had introduced bold measures aimed at improving Nigeria’s socio-economic development. Ganduje specifically referenced the removal of fuel subsidy, describing it as a long-delayed but necessary decision that previous administrations and political contenders lacked the courage to implement.

According to him, the policy has increased revenue allocations to states, enabling governors across party lines to fund development projects in their respective states. He emphasized that the reform was undertaken in the national interest rather than for partisan advantage.

Ganduje also praised the Northern Nigeria Youth Leaders for their dedication, applauding their efforts in mobilising political support and raising funds ahead of Tinubu’s re-election bid. He assured the group of his continued backing and expressed appreciation for their commitment, energy and resources devoted to ensuring the President’s return for a second term.
