Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, disclosed that Senator Babangida Hussaini will serve as the chairman and Senator Muntari Dandutse as the deputy chairman of the Senate Committee on the North West Development Commission. Additionally, Senator Titus Zam will lead the Senate Committee on the North Central Development Commission.
Further changes include the appointment of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu and Senator Kenneth Eze as chairman and deputy chairman of the South East Development Commission committee. Meanwhile, Kogi’s Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan, who previously chaired the Local Content Committee, will now oversee the Committee on Diaspora and NGOs. Abdul Ningi has been reassigned from the Population Committee to lead the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) committee.
Other notable appointments include Senator Garba Maidoki as chairman of the Senate Committee on Sports Development, Victor Umeh as chairman of the Committee on National Population and NIMC, and Joel Thomas as chairman of the Committee on Local Content.
Akpabio also praised the Senate’s efforts during the 2025 budget defense sessions, acknowledging the lawmakers’ commitment to ensuring the budget aligns with the nation’s financial goals.
