Buried Firearm, 65 Cartridges Found at Construction Site in Borno

Police authorities in Borno State have uncovered a firearm and 65 rounds of live ammunition buried at a construction site in Bama town, situated within the Bama Local Government Area.

Sources confirmed to Zagazola Makama that the items were discovered around noon on Wednesday by a casual labourer who was digging a foundation for a building project and stumbled upon a suspicious package underground.

The incident was quickly reported to law enforcement. Officers, including the Divisional Police Officer and the Assistant Commissioner of Police in Bama, responded promptly and secured the area.

A single-barrel pump-action gun wrapped in polythene, along with 65 live cartridges of 22 calibre ammunition, was retrieved from the buried package.

Following the discovery, the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) has taken charge of the case, initiating a full investigation to trace the ownership and origin of the weapon and ammunition.
