According to Ireporter Online, popular Nigerian singer David Adeleke, professionally known as Davido, has officially joined the Accord Party, signaling his political alignment with his uncle and Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

Davido announced the move on his verified (formerly Twitter) account on Tuesday, revealing plans to travel to Osogbo, the Osun State capital, to collect his party membership card. “I will be live in Osun to pick up my @AccordPartyNG membership card @ IMOLE HOUSE OSOGBO tomorrow… see you soon ACCORDINGLY. Cc @AAdeleke_01,” he wrote.

This decision follows closely on the heels of Governor Adeleke’s own defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Accord Party, which he announced formally on December 9, 2025, at the Government House Banquet Hall in Osogbo. The governor cited a prolonged leadership crisis at the national level of the PDP as a key reason for his defection, stating that joining the Accord Party would safeguard his re-election bid and ensure political stability in the state.

Governor Adeleke officially joined the Accord Party on November 6 after consulting with political stakeholders and opinion leaders across Osun State. Davido had earlier drawn public attention by responding to his uncle’s PDP exit on social media with a cryptic “Jeje…,” fueling speculation about his political intentions.

By joining the Accord Party, Davido now formally aligns himself with Governor Adeleke as preparations intensify for the 2026 Osun governorship election, confirming widespread speculation about his political ambitions.
