DONE DEAL: Foden Signs New Man City Contract

Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden has put an end to speculation surrounding his future after signing a new four-year contract that will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until 2030.

According to Ireporter Online, the new agreement extends the England international’s stay with the Premier League champions beyond the expiration of his previous contract, which was due to end next summer. The deal also marks another major step as City begin a new chapter under head coach Enzo Maresca.

Foden, who made his senior debut for Manchester City at just 17 under former manager Pep Guardiola, has grown into one of the club’s most successful academy products. Since breaking into the first team, he has made 369 appearances, helping the club secure six Premier League titles, a UEFA Champions League trophy, and two FA Cups.

Speaking after signing the extension, the 26-year-old expressed his delight at remaining with the only club he has represented professionally.

He described extending his stay as a dream fulfilled, saying wearing the Manchester City shirt has always been a privilege. Foden added that although he has been fortunate to experience one of the most successful eras in the club’s history, his focus remains on achieving even greater success in the coming years.

The midfielder also welcomed the opportunity to work once again with Maresca, praising the Italian coach for the positive influence he had on the squad during City’s historic Treble-winning campaign when he served as Guardiola’s assistant.

The contract extension follows a challenging period for Foden, who was left out of England manager Thomas Tuchel’s squad for this summer’s FIFA World Cup after an inconsistent domestic campaign in which he started only 23 Premier League matches.

Despite the setback, Foden remains one of the English top flight’s most productive attacking players in recent years. Over the last six seasons, only Liverpool star Mohamed Salah and Aston Villa forward Ollie Watkins have consistently reached double figures in goals across all competitions alongside him.

His standout campaign came after City’s Treble-winning season, when he registered 27 goals and 12 assists. However, his attacking output has declined over the past two seasons as tactical adjustments saw him deployed in deeper midfield roles, with Jeremy Doku and Antoine Semenyo providing width while Rayan Cherki frequently operated behind striker Erling Haaland.

Last season, Foden contributed seven goals and five assists in 33 Premier League appearances after recording seven goals and two assists in 28 league matches the previous campaign.
