I Won’t Leave Generational Wealth For My Children” — Spyro Reveals Why

Nigerian Afrobeats singer Spyro has explained why he does not intend to leave behind generational wealth for his children, saying he does not believe in accumulating money specifically for inheritance.

According to reports, the “Who’s Your Guy” singer made the remarks during an interview with Nevon HQ, where he shared his views on wealth and inheritance.

Spyro said he was not part of the school of thought that encourages people to accumulate substantial wealth solely for their children to inherit after their death.

The singer explained that he could not predict how his children would choose to use any wealth he left behind, which influenced his decision not to make inheritance a major focus.

“I’m not part of the school of thought of leaving money down for children because, at the end of the day, after I’m gone, I don’t know what they will do with it,” Spyro said.

The singer also opened up about difficult experiences from his childhood, recalling how repeated accusations from his father affected his confidence while growing up.

Spyro said his father, who was a pastor, would accuse him of stealing whenever money went missing from the church and would sometimes portray him publicly as a troublesome child.

According to the singer, the accusations and public embarrassment had a lasting impact on his self-confidence.

He recalled that on some occasions, his father would later buy him milk after missing money or items were found, but Spyro said such gestures did not completely erase the emotional impact of being publicly accused.

The singer’s comments shed light on both his perspective on family wealth and some of the childhood experiences he believes influenced his confidence and outlook on life.
