Police Inspector K!lled By Gunmen In Adamawa

The Adamawa State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the death of one of its officers following an overnight attack by suspected Boko Haram terrorists in Gaya community, Hong Local Government Area of the state.

According to Ireporter Online, the incident occurred on Monday night when the attackers reportedly invaded the community and set two houses ablaze.

Hong Local Government Area Chairman, Aliyu Sa’ad, said eight people were killed in the attack, including a police inspector and seven civilians.

He explained that the attackers struck the community at night before setting the two houses on fire and fleeing the area.

Following the incident, security personnel comprising soldiers, police officers, hunters, vigilantes and other relevant agencies were deployed to the community to track down the attackers.

However, the police command gave a different preliminary casualty figure, saying five bodies had initially been recovered from the scene.

The command’s spokesperson, Suleiman Nguroje, said the recovered victims included four civilians and a police inspector.

He noted that security personnel had been deployed to search for the perpetrators and ascertain the full extent of the attack.

Nguroje added that the command was awaiting further information from the area and would provide additional details once the situation became clearer.

The latest attack has heightened security concerns in the affected community, as security agencies continue efforts to identify and apprehend those responsible.
