Tinubu Demands Full Probe Into Deadly Attack On Military Base In Borno

In a statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Tinubu honored the fallen soldiers as “brave heroes” whose ultimate sacrifice in defending Nigeria’s sovereignty will not be forgotten. He expressed heartfelt sympathy to the families of the soldiers, acknowledging their courage and commitment to safeguarding the nation.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the brave soldiers who paid the ultimate price for our peace and security. Their dedication to protecting our territorial integrity will forever be remembered,” said President Tinubu.

The President also praised the swift military response, particularly the air strikes that neutralized many of the fleeing terrorists and destroyed their assets. He emphasized that this decisive action highlighted the military’s capability and readiness to address security threats.

“The swift action taken by the Army showcases the military’s readiness to confront and eliminate threats to our national security. This is a testament to our unwavering commitment to eradicating terrorism and banditry, ensuring a peaceful future for all Nigerians,” Tinubu stated.

In light of the attack, President Tinubu called for a thorough investigation into the incident, urging that lessons be learned to prevent future attacks. He further stressed the need for intensified efforts against terrorist and bandit camps, particularly in the Northwest, where innocent lives remain under threat.

“The fight against terrorism and banditry must be proactive. I urge the military to take the battle directly to the criminal hideouts. We cannot afford to ease our efforts in restoring peace and security throughout the nation,” he said.

President Tinubu also called on Nigerians and the media to continue supporting the military in its mission to restore peace and stability. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing the armed forces with the necessary resources to succeed in their mission.

“On behalf of a grateful nation, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to our military and security forces. Your sacrifices and unwavering dedication are deeply appreciated, and we stand firmly with you in this battle to eliminate these threats,” he concluded.
