Presidency: More Details On Peter Obi’s Records To Emerge In Coming Days

Bwala made the statement amid an ongoing dispute over allegations concerning loans, salaries and other financial obligations linked to Obi’s tenure as governor of Anambra State. The Anambra State Government recently released records which it said showed that loans remained outstanding from Obi’s administration.

In a post on X, Bwala accused Obi of making claims that contradicted the records being presented by the state government. He said the Presidency would respond by highlighting Obi’s documented record rather than engaging in insults, vitriol or hate speech.

“This is only testing the microphone, more records to come out in the coming days. He loves records, we would answer in kind,” Bwala stated, according to the report.

The controversy follows Peter Obi’s rejection of the debt allegations. Obi has maintained that he left office without outstanding salaries, pensions, gratuities or payments owed to contractors whose work had been duly completed and certified.

The Anambra State Government, however, has disputed his position, alleging that outstanding external loans and some legacy financial obligations remained after his tenure. The competing claims have yet to be resolved, with both sides presenting different accounts of the state’s financial position at the time Obi left office.
