Court Restrains Police, DSS From Arresting Governor Fubara Chief Of Staff Edison Ehie

A Rivers State High Court in Port Harcourt has issued an interim injunction prohibiting the police, Department of State Services (DSS), and other security agencies from arresting Edison Ehie, the suspended Chief of Staff to Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

APC Confirms Discussions With Fubara And Wike Amid Rivers Crisis

The court order explicitly restrains the defendants and their agents from summoning, arresting, detaining, harassing, or intimidating Ehie in connection with allegations related to the arson at the Rivers State House of Assembly, which occurred on March 29, 2023. The order also prevents any action based on statements allegedly made by Dr. George Nwaeke, the former Head of Service of Rivers State, or any other individual.

Additionally, the court instructed that the Writ of Summons and other legal documents be served on the defendants in Abuja via Red Star Express Courier Service. Justice Igwe also directed both parties to maintain the existing status quo until the court reaches a decision on the motion.

Ehie has been mandated to provide an undertaking of N2 million as security for potential damages if the motion is later deemed groundless.
