In a statement issued on April 3, 2025, Akpoti-Uduaghan criticized Senate President Godswill Akpabio and former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, asserting that their political careers are nearing an end. The senator had previously accused Akpabio of sexual harassment, alleging that he had been systematically attempting to silence her since she rejected his advances.
Akpoti-Uduaghan praised INEC for withstanding pressure from what she described as “anti-democratic forces” and for upholding the will of the Kogi Central electorate. She remarked that the commission’s decision reflects the voice of the people and divine intervention, emphasizing that neither Akpabio, Bello, nor their allies can undermine the mandate entrusted to her by her constituents.
She further noted that the rejection of her recall attempt serves as a triumph over those seeking to unjustly remove her from office. The senator remains resolute in her stance, thanking her supporters and reiterating that no one can tamper with the people’s mandate.
