Akpabio Denies Involvement In Alleged Rally In Akwa Ibom, Calls For Security Intervention

The President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has disassociated himself from a planned rally reportedly organized in his support by an unrecognized group known as the Progressive Peoples’ Resolution (PPR). The rally, led by a controversial figure named Ubong Idemudo, is scheduled to take place on April 4, 2025.

The statement, titled “Disregard any rally in Akwa Ibom purported to be in support of Senate President Godswill Akpabio, GCON,” emphasized that Akpabio was not aware of any rally planned in his support and urged his followers and the residents of Akwa Ibom to ignore the event and continue with their lawful activities.

According to the statement, the rally is perceived to be the work of mischief-makers seeking to exploit Akpabio’s name for ulterior motives. Akpabio stressed that he did not endorse the gathering and called on law enforcement agencies to ensure that the event does not proceed.
