Okpebholo’s emergence followed his victory in the September 21, 2024, gubernatorial election, where he defeated his closest rival, PDP candidate Asue Ighodalo. This inauguration makes Okpebholo the fifth governor of Edo State since the start of the Fourth Republic in 1999.
