China’s Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, visited Nigeria on a diplomatic mission, with discussions centered around strengthening economic ties and implementing agreements from the 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).
In an interview on ireporteronline, Tuggar emphasized Nigeria’s vision for transforming its industrial landscape by encouraging Chinese investment in local refining and manufacturing. He stated, “We want China to refine lithium here locally. By doing this, we are not just boosting our foreign exchange but also creating countless job opportunities for our citizens.”
Tuggar highlighted that special economic zones should be utilized to establish electric vehicle assembly plants, further positioning Nigeria as a hub for sustainable technology and innovation.
“We are looking at expanding this partnership to include the assembly of electric vehicles, utilizing our lithium resources to create a robust value chain right here in Nigeria,” Tuggar added.
