The article, published by an online media outlet, alleged that Ozekhome criticized the EFCC for pursuing legal action against the immediate past governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, while not arresting former Governors Abdul’aziz Abubakar Yari of Zamfara State and Bello Matawale.

Ozekhome categorically denied making such statements, labeling them as “utterly false and misleading.” In a statement released in Abuja, he expressed his dismay over the misrepresentation of his views and emphasized that the attributed statements contradicted his principles and professional stance.

He questioned how he, being a friend and lawyer of Bello Matawale for many years, could make such allegations. He also highlighted his longstanding commitment to human rights, due process, democracy, and good governance over four decades.
