The Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) has imposed a lifetime ban on Ms. Comfort Emmanson, barring her from flying with any of its member airlines on both domestic and international routes, according to Ireporter Online.

The decision follows a disturbing incident aboard Ibom Air flight Q9 303 from Uyo to Lagos on August 10, 2025, where Ms. Emmanson was alleged to have violently assaulted crew members. AON’s spokesperson, Prof. Obiora Okonkwo, stated that all member airlines unanimously agreed to enforce the indefinite “No Fly” sanction, stressing that such conduct would no longer be tolerated in Nigeria’s aviation industry.

According to Ireporter Online, the incident escalated after Ms. Emmanson allegedly refused to comply with safety instructions regarding mobile phone use, which then spiraled into a sustained physical attack on cabin crew. The confrontation reportedly included an attempt to wield a fire extinguisher as a weapon—an act the AON described as one of the most severe cases of unruly passenger behavior recorded this year.

AON commended Ibom Air for swiftly managing the crisis and reiterated that the lifetime ban is a clear message to deter similar incidents. The body also drew attention to recent high-profile cases of passenger misconduct, warning that any traveler exhibiting unruly behavior going forward would face identical sanctions.

According to Ireporter Online, AON further urged the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to immediately tighten airport security measures to safeguard airline personnel, passengers, and aircraft. While acknowledging the rights of passengers to voice complaints, AON emphasized that grievances must be expressed through lawful and non-violent channels.
