Yari Accepts Tinubu’s Appointment, Takes Charge Of APC 2027 Campaign

Former Zamfara State Governor and Senator representing Zamfara West, Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar, has formally accepted his appointment as Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 election.

Yari’s appointment was announced by the Presidency following the constitution of the APC Presidential Campaign Council by President Bola Tinubu, with the former governor expected to coordinate the party’s campaign activities ahead of the presidential election.

According to a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma will serve as Secretary of the council, while Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima will occupy the positions of Chairman and Vice-Chairman respectively.

Reacting to his appointment in a statement on Saturday, Yari expressed appreciation to President Tinubu and the APC leadership for the confidence placed in him.

The former governor described the campaign as more than an electoral contest, saying it would provide an opportunity to engage Nigerians across the country on the future of the nation.

Yari pledged to lead the campaign with discipline, unity and respect for Nigerians, while stressing that preparations would commence immediately.

He also urged Nigerians across political divides to support progress over division, insisting that the APC would seek to earn the confidence of voters through its achievements rather than political rhetoric.

Yari said, “I accept this responsibility with deep gratitude and full seriousness.

“My sincere thanks go to President Bola Tinubu and the party for the trust placed in me, and to our party leadership for the confidence. I do not take it lightly.

“By the grace of God, and with the effort of us all, we will deliver victory in January 2027.”
