2027: INEC Opens Recruitment Portal For Ad Hoc Staff — How To Apply

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the opening of its online portal for the recruitment of ad hoc personnel ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to the Commission, the INEC Portal for the Engagement of Election Staff, known as INECPRES, is scheduled to open at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, September 18, 2026, and close at midnight on Wednesday, November 18, 2026.

INEC said the recruitment exercise will cover several categories of election personnel, including Supervisory Presiding Officers, Presiding Officers, Assistant Presiding Officers, Registration Area Centre Managers and Registration Area Technical Support personnel.

Eligible applicants include serving corps members, former National Youth Service Corps members, qualified tertiary institution students, public and civil servants, relevant staff of Ministries, Departments and Agencies, heads or eligible staff of institutions hosting Registration Area Centres, as well as qualified personnel with information technology backgrounds.

Applicants are required to meet the specific eligibility criteria for their preferred positions before commencing registration. INEC also requires applicants to provide a functional email address, active telephone number, personal bank account details, a recent passport photograph and relevant identification or qualification documents.

Former and serving NYSC members are required to provide their applicable NYSC call-up information, while students and employees may need to provide valid student or staff identification. Applicants are also required to provide referee details and other information requested on the portal.

To apply, prospective applicants are expected to access the official INECPRES portal through INEC’s website, review the eligibility requirements and select the position for which they qualify.

Applicants will then be required to create an account, complete their personal, contact and bank information, upload the necessary documents and passport photograph, provide referee details, review the information supplied and submit the application.

INEC advises applicants to ensure that all information provided is accurate before submission, as submitted applications may not be editable. Applicants are also expected to print or retain their acknowledgement slips after completing the registration process.

The Commission has also stated that applicants should apply for only one election staff position and meet the requirements applicable to their selected category.

INEC urged prospective applicants to use only its official platforms for the recruitment exercise and to follow the instructions provided on the portal throughout the registration process.
