57-Year-Old Man Arrested Over Alleged Def!lement Of 6-Year-Old Stepdaughter In Edo

The Edo State Police Command has arrested a 57-year-old man, identified as Kadiri Edenokun, over the alleged defilement of his six-year-old stepdaughter in Jattu, Auchi.

The Command’s spokesperson, ASP Eno Ikoedem, disclosed the development in a statement issued on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.

According to the police, the suspect allegedly confessed during interrogation to committing the offence multiple times.

The command said the child is currently receiving medical treatment under the care of the Edo State Ministry of Women Affairs.

The suspect remains in police custody and is expected to be charged to court after the conclusion of investigations.

The Commissioner of Police, Edo State Command, CP Patrick Daaor, warned that the command would not tolerate sexual violence, particularly offences committed against children.

He urged parents and members of the public to remain vigilant and assured that anyone found culpable would face the full weight of the law.
