January 2, 2025, when the estranged husband of a woman, whom the Bishop had previously helped reconcile with her husband, caught him in his wife’s bedroom. Enraged, the husband attacked Bishop Olaribigbe, stabbing him in the chest, which led to his immediate death.

The couple, who had been living apart but were not legally divorced, were in the midst of a quarrel when the incident took place. The woman, a regular member of the church, had been ill, prompting the Bishop’s visit to her home. The emotional confrontation between the husband and the Bishop escalated quickly, ending in the tragic killing.

The police swiftly apprehended the couple, and they are currently being held at the Dugbe Police Division in Osogbo. The late Bishop’s remains were transferred to the morgue at UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital, Osogbo.

Police confirmed the incident, with Osun State Police spokesperson Yemisi Opalola stating that the Bishop had been trying to resolve the couple’s ongoing issues. She revealed that the husband, driven by suspicion, believed the pastor had an inappropriate relationship with his wife.
