The naira maintained a relatively stable position at the parallel foreign exchange market on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, with the United States dollar quoted at ₦1,430 for selling and ₦1,415 for buying.

According to Ireporter Online, the latest figures obtained from Bureau De Change (BDC) operators in Lagos showed that the dollar-to-naira exchange rate remained unchanged from the previous trading session.

At the Lagos parallel market, forex dealers were selling one US dollar for ₦1,430, while buyers were purchasing it at ₦1,415. This represents a ₦15 difference between the buying and selling rates.

Meanwhile, the official market recorded different rates, with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) rate ranging between ₦1,359 and ₦1,362 per dollar.

The disparity between the official and parallel market rates highlights the continued differences across Nigeria’s foreign exchange markets, where rates can fluctuate depending on demand, supply and market conditions.

The CBN does not recognise the parallel market as an official avenue for foreign exchange transactions and has advised individuals seeking forex to conduct transactions through authorised financial institutions.

Forex users are also advised to note that actual rates may vary from those quoted in market reports, as Bureau De Change operators and other dealers can adjust their prices based on prevailing market conditions.
