Don Jazzy Breaks Silence, Reveals Why He Never Charges For Promotions
Music executive and Mavin Records founder, Michael Collins Ajereh, popularly known as Don Jazzy, has dismissed claims that he receives payment from artists or filmmakers in exchange for promoting their projects.
According to Ireporter Online, the renowned producer made the clarification on his X account after a comedy skit featuring Nollywood actor Itele sparked speculation among social media users.
In the viral skit, Itele humorously portrayed himself restraining Don Jazzy and compelling him to promote the forthcoming movie, Black Market, a scene that generated widespread reactions online.
Reacting to the video, an X user identified as Oba Tao Oshomo suggested that Don Jazzy’s endorsement must have been financially motivated, claiming the music executive was willing to do anything for money.
Responding to the allegation, Don Jazzy firmly denied ever accepting payment for promotional support within the entertainment industry.
He stated that no artist, filmmaker or entertainment professional had ever paid him for promoting their work, adding that his support for creatives comes freely.
The music executive stressed that his willingness to amplify projects is not driven by financial gain, describing his endorsements as acts of goodwill.
The film Black Market, which Don Jazzy promoted, is a Nollywood production aiming to set a new Guinness World Records title for the largest film screening at a single venue.
The project is being produced by Rixel Studios in collaboration with FilmOne Studios, Signet Ring Studios and Switch Visuals Production.
Producers of the movie disclosed that its premiere is scheduled for September 26 at Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos, where they hope to attract 50,000 viewers and surpass the current world record of more than 43,000 people watching a film in one location.
