Just In: Kano State Announces Education-Recovery Conference To Address Sector-Challenges
The Kano State Government has unveiled plans to host an Education Recovery Conference on July 10th and 11th, aimed at revitalizing and transforming the education sector in the state. This initiative seeks to address critical issues of access, quality, and equity in education through strategic collaborations and policy reforms.
Alhaji Tajuddeen Gambo, Special Adviser to the Kano State Governor on Education and Chairman of the Education Recovery Conference Planning Committee, highlighted that the conference enjoys support from the United Kingdom’s Foreign and Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO) in Nigeria and the Arewa Consultative Forum. It will bring together thought leaders, policymakers, educators, and stakeholders from various sectors to deliberate on pressing challenges facing education in Kano State.
The conference agenda includes keynote speeches, lead paper presentations, plenaries, and breakout sessions, all structured to foster interactive discussions and inclusive decision-making. These sessions will focus on identifying sustainable solutions to enhance educational access, equity, and quality across the state.
Gambo emphasized the urgency of addressing the decay in educational quality and infrastructure in Kano State, citing Governor Abba Yusuf’s declaration of a state of emergency in the sector. Recent governmental initiatives have prioritized comprehensive reforms, including academic enhancement, infrastructure development, and support for teachers and girl-child education.
“In line with our commitment to revitalizing the education sector, funds have been allocated for extensive renovations of primary and junior secondary schools across all 44 local government areas of Kano State,” Gambo affirmed. This ambitious roadmap aims to lay the foundation for accessible and high-quality education, addressing the significant challenges prevalent in the state.
The Education Recovery Conference is poised to serve as a pivotal platform for charting a reform pathway and forging partnerships that will drive sustainable development in Kano State’s education sector. Stakeholders are expected to collaborate in identifying actionable strategies that will lead to tangible improvements, ensuring every child in Kano has access to quality education.
Stay tuned for updates as Kano State advances its agenda towards educational excellence and equitable access for all its residents.
