The agency clarified that the ban was prompted by the presence of Butyphenyl Methylpropional (BMHCA) in the product.
This decision was communicated through a post on the Agency’s official communication platform on Thursday, April 11.
According to the announcement, the European Union (EU) had previously prohibited the product due to its potential to harm the reproductive system of users, pose risks to the health of unborn children, and cause skin sensitization.
“Although this product is not listed on the NAFDAC database, importers, distributors, retailers, and consumers are urged to exercise caution and vigilance throughout the supply chain to prevent the importation, distribution, sale, and use of the aforementioned product,” the agency further emphasized.
