South Africa showcased their offensive strength in the first round, delivering a stunning 22-1 aggregate victory over Gabon. However, Khumalo acknowledges that Nigeria will pose a much tougher challenge.
As the crucial encounter approaches, Khumalo has devised a tactical approach to neutralize Nigeria’s attacking threats while enhancing her team’s chances of scoring.
“Our objective is clear—we aim to qualify for the World Cup,” Khumalo told safa.net.
She elaborated on her strategy, emphasizing a disciplined defensive approach.
“We will reinforce our defense every 15 minutes to limit Nigeria’s scoring chances,” she stated.
At the same time, she highlighted the importance of offensive play.
“We plan to apply high-pressure tactics to create scoring opportunities. We cannot win if we don’t take the initiative to score,” she added.
The match will kick off at 3 PM South African time (2 PM Nigerian time) and promises to be an intense battle. The winner on aggregate over both legs will advance to the final qualification round, moving one step closer to their World Cup dream.
