The issue of land ownership in South Africa remains highly contentious, as much of the farmland is still controlled by white landowners nearly 30 years after the end of apartheid. The government maintains that land reforms are necessary to address historical injustices, particularly the forced removals of Black families under the 1913 Natives Land Act.
