City officials confirmed that two ballistic missiles and 24 Russian drones had been intercepted, but debris caused significant destruction.

“This is yet another proof that Putin seeks war, not peace,” Sybiga stated, urging increased economic and military pressure on Moscow to force a just resolution.

An AFP reporter described the aftermath in Kyiv as harrowing, with flooded streets and the charred remnants of buildings, including a bombed-out McDonald’s outlet.

The southern city of Zaporizhzhia also faced a nighttime assault, with regional governor Ivan Fedorov condemning the strike as a “cynical” attack while residents were asleep.
