press conference in Abuja.

During the controversial briefing, Abdulahi overturned the party’s prior endorsement of the Rivers State executive committee aligned with Governor Siminalayi Fubara. He further accused Ologunagba of misrepresenting the National Working Committee’s (NWC) decisions on key issues, including a court ruling on Rivers State congresses and the party’s National Secretary.

Party’s Rebuttal
Ologunagba dismissed Abdulahi’s actions, asserting that he lacked the authority to speak on behalf of the PDP without explicit approval. He clarified that Abdulahi’s independent actions violated party protocols, emphasizing that such communications must adhere strictly to the PDP’s constitution.

“The chairman cannot delegate someone to represent the party when the National Publicity Secretary is available,” Ologunagba stated, underscoring the party’s constitutional guidelines.

Allegations Fly
Abdulahi, however, claimed he was acting on the directive of Acting National Chairman Ambassador Iliya Damagum. He accused Ologunagba of unilateral decision-making and misleading the public, citing an alleged failure to formally adopt a court ruling validating the Ewor-led Rivers State executive.

“The NWC has not met to adopt any judgement regarding Rivers State. Ologunagba’s claim is false and unsubstantiated,” Abdulahi said. He also criticized Ologunagba for prioritizing personal biases over party unity.

The dispute further highlighted divisions within the PDP over the position of National Secretary. Abdulahi argued that the party recognized Senator Sam Anyanwu, citing a stay of execution order against an earlier Appeal Court ruling favoring Sunday Ude-Okoye. Ologunagba, however, maintained that Abdulahi’s remarks were baseless and damaging to the party’s credibility.

Ongoing Crisis
As tensions mount, Ologunagba called for adherence to the party’s constitution and warned that Abdulahi’s unauthorized actions could harm the PDP’s reputation.

“The constitution must be respected,” he said. “The National Publicity Secretary remains the proper channel of communication, and Abdulahi’s actions are in clear violation of party rules.”
