According to Sahara Reporters, the police aim to detain the individuals for further investigation into defamation allegations. Chief Magistrate Emmanuel A. Iyanna issued the order on January 13, 2025, following a motion filed by Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and presented by Francis Gabriel, Esq.

The court ruling mandates the detention of the respondents until their scheduled court appearance on January 30, 2025.

The remand order stems from a petition by Patrick O. Okolo, SAN, accusing Reno Omokri, Gistlover Blog, and others of defamation.
