Army Declares Soldier Wanted Over Alleged Sale Of Military Uniforms To Terrorists

According to Ireporter Online, the suspect was identified as Private Mohammed Yusuf Amutu, who was attached to the Nigerian Army Ordnance Kits Factory before reportedly absconding from his unit on June 3, 2026.

The development was announced in a statement issued on Thursday by the Assistant Director of Army Public Relations at the Headquarters of the Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps, Major Oluwatope Dorcas Aluko.

The Army disclosed that preliminary investigations linked the soldier to the alleged unauthorized sale and distribution of military uniforms and other controlled items, prompting military authorities to declare him wanted while efforts continue to locate and arrest him.

The statement stressed that the Nigerian Army maintains a zero-tolerance policy against misconduct and any act capable of undermining national security, operational effectiveness, or the integrity of the military.

It warned that any personnel found aiding terrorists, criminals, or other non-state actors through the unauthorized sale, diversion, or distribution of military uniforms, accoutrements, or other restricted items would face the full weight of both military and civil laws.

The Army also appealed to members of the public to provide credible information that could assist in the arrest of the wanted soldier, urging anyone with useful information to report to the nearest military formation or any security agency.

Reaffirming its commitment to accountability and professionalism, the Nigerian Army assured Nigerians that all allegations of misconduct would be thoroughly investigated and that any personnel found culpable would be held fully accountable in accordance with existing laws and regulations.
