Bayelsa, Delta Monarchs Accuse Tinubu of Implementing Wike’s Agenda in Rivers Crisis

Two prominent traditional rulers from Bayelsa and Delta States have criticized President Bola Tinubu for allegedly executing the political agenda of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, in declaring a state of emergency in Rivers State. The monarchs, HRM King Dodo II of the Bilabiri Kingdom and HRH King-Jerry Prebor (Snr.) of the Meinbutus Federated Communities, voiced their concerns over the presidential directive that led to the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara and other state officials………….READ MORE

Speaking to Saturday Vanguard, HRH Prebor claimed Tinubu’s decision was one-sided, arguing that Wike was the mastermind behind the crisis in Rivers State.

“The president’s actions are biased because he never acknowledged the role of Nyesom Wike in fueling the crisis,” he said. “Tinubu played Wike’s script, which aimed to impeach Governor Fubara. Since impeachment was not successful, the state of emergency was used as an alternative. The same script was handed to the Supreme Court to justify the impunity of the Rivers State House of Assembly.”

King Dodo II also condemned the removal of Fubara, describing it as undemocratic and a form of political oppression. He urged President Tinubu to dismiss Wike instead, arguing that the FCT Minister was the root of the unrest in the state.

“Why not sack Wike, who is behind all the troubles in Rivers State? The president should remove him if he truly wants to resolve this crisis and prevent it from spreading to other parts of the Niger Delta,” he said.

The traditional rulers’ statements come amid growing controversy over the federal government’s intervention in Rivers State, with opposition parties and stakeholders questioning the legality of the emergency rule and the suspension of elected officials.
