Bishop of Nnewi, Rt. Rev. Ndubisi Obi, Obi revealed that his decision to allocate over ₦1.5 billion to humanitarian causes in 2024 is motivated by his genuine concern for humanity, not for personal gain or publicity.

The former Governor of Anambra State explained that his long-standing commitment to philanthropy is rooted in his desire to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. His recent donations include ₦10 million each to Bishop Ephraim Ikeakor for the College of Nursing Sciences in Amichi and to Bishop Ndubisi Obi for ongoing projects at ADON College of Health Technology in Nnewi.

Obi emphasized that his efforts are part of a broader initiative to address critical societal needs and improve lives. Reflecting on his history of giving, he recalled his humanitarian work in Haiti following the earthquake and his philanthropic activities even before his public life. Obi also shared his visit to various facilities with Bishop Ndubisi, including a rehabilitation center for drug abuse victims and a school for children with special needs.

Rejecting the notion that his philanthropy is a strategy for self-promotion, Obi stated that giving back to society is a moral and spiritual responsibility. He reiterated his commitment to continue contributing to worthy causes as long as he has the means to do so.

“For me, it is not about recognition but about fulfilling a spiritual obligation to give back to society,” Obi said, further solidifying his dedication to making a lasting impact on those in need.
