United Makes A Statement: Patrick Dorgu Transfers From Lecce
Premier League giants Manchester United have officially signed Patrick Dorgu from Lecce, marking a key addition to their squad.
According to Naija News, the 20-year-old left-back joins the Red Devils for a reported fee of £25.2 million, with an additional £4.2 million in performance-related add-ons. Dorgu has signed a contract running until 2030, with an option to extend for an extra year.
Having previously played 53 matches in Serie A for Lecce, Dorgu’s arrival represents the first major signing under new United manager Ruben Amorim, who also brought in 18-year-old defender Ayden Heaven from Arsenal earlier this week.
Dorgu arrived in Manchester on Wednesday, where he underwent his medical examination at Carrington before finalizing the deal.
Reports from Sky Sports News suggest that reinforcing the left wing-back position was a top priority for Amorim, making Dorgu’s signing a crucial acquisition for United in this transfer window.
The Danish international, who moved from Nordsjaelland in 2022, has already earned four caps for Denmark and continues to show great promise.
Dorgu’s Reaction to the Transfer
Expressing his excitement, Dorgu stated:
“I am incredibly proud to call myself a Manchester United player; this is a very special day for my family.”
“I can’t wait to work with Ruben Amorim—his vision for the team and the club’s future is incredibly exciting. There’s a clear plan for my development, and I believe Manchester United is the perfect place to fulfill my potential and achieve my ambitions.”
