During a courtesy visit by the Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society (NMGS) led by its President, Akinade Olatunji, in Abuja on Friday, Nnaji called for stronger collaboration between the Society and government agencies to advance scientific and technological development.

In a statement by Ministry spokesperson Atuora Obed, the Minister acknowledged the crucial role of mining and geoscience in industrialization, urging the integration of advanced technologies to enhance efficiency, safety, and economic sustainability.

He highlighted the need to adopt Artificial Intelligence (AI), data analytics, and renewable energy to optimize resource management while minimizing environmental impact. Additionally, he assured the government’s commitment to fostering local value addition, reducing raw material exports, and strengthening research and development (R&D) to drive homegrown solutions.

Professor Olatunji, President of NMGS, reiterated the Society’s dedication to fostering innovation and supporting economic transformation through strategic resource utilization in oil and gas, agriculture, and solid mineral extraction.
