The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed the incident on Sunday, revealing that one of the vehicles had been traveling against traffic. Initial reports suggest that the collision caused both buses to catch fire, leaving no survivors. 28 people were burned beyond recognition, and while two initially survived, they later succumbed to their injuries on their way to the hospital.

An eyewitness described the horrifying scene: “We were nearby when we heard a loud sound. On reaching the scene, we saw two burning vehicles with people inside trying to escape. Shortly after, FRSC officers arrived and rushed the only two survivors to the hospital. However, we later learned that they had also passed away.”

The FRSC urged motorists to exercise caution on the expressway and adhere to all traffic rules to prevent further tragedies.
