Relief For Students! Tinubu Approves ₦104 Billion Loan Disbursement, Increases TETFund To ₦940 Billion

President Bola Tinubu has announced the disbursement of ₦104 billion under his student loan initiative, benefiting 600 students across Nigeria.

Speaking at the 33rd Convocation of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, on Saturday, February 1, 2025, Tinubu, represented by Hajiya Rakiya Gambo Ilyasu, a Director in the Federal Ministry of Education, reaffirmed his commitment to making higher education more accessible.

The President further disclosed that ₦940 billion has been earmarked for the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) in the 2025 budget, highlighting his administration’s drive to overhaul Nigeria’s education sector.

Ensuring Affordable Education for All

Tinubu assured Nigerians that financial constraints would no longer be a barrier to quality education.

“We remain resolute in tackling challenges within the education sector, including ensuring industrial harmony in universities,” he stated.

He encouraged higher institutions to embrace the student loan program, promising that the initiative would be expanded to accommodate more students in the near future.

Addressing the graduating students, Tinubu urged them to leverage their knowledge and skills to drive innovation and national development.

“You have been equipped to contribute meaningfully to society. Let integrity, resilience, and purpose guide your endeavors. Aspire to greatness, avoid vices, and make Nigeria proud,” he charged them.

He also emphasized his administration’s unwavering focus on economic growth and security, pledging to create an enabling environment for Nigerian youths to thrive.

“Let us remain united in our collective vision for a prosperous, strong, and resilient Nigeria,” Tinubu concluded.

Furthermore, the President called on universities to strengthen partnerships with industries, ensuring research is tailored to societal needs.
