Breaking: FG Powers 3,900 Households With New 990kW Mini-Grid

is part of the Interconnected Mini-grid Accelerated Scheme (IMAS) and is expected to be scaled up to 1.5MW in the future.

Speaking at the launch, Power Minister Adebayo Adelabu emphasized the transformative impact of the initiative, stating that access to electricity will boost economic activities, create jobs, and enhance education and healthcare services in the community.

The Rural Electrification Agency (REA) Managing Director, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, highlighted that IMAS is designed to provide sustainable, renewable electricity to underserved communities, reducing dependence on polluting energy sources like diesel and kerosene.

Niger State Governor, Mohammed Bago, expressed readiness to collaborate with REA to expand mini-grid projects across the state, while EU and German officials reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Nigeria’s clean energy transition, noting that over €200 million has been invested in mini-grid projects across the country.
