Fuji Legends Unite: Saheed Osupa And Pasuma Shine At Sikiru Ayinde Barrister Memorial
According to Ireporter Online, Fuji musicians and cultural figures from across Lagos State gathered at the residence of the late Sikiru Ayinde Barrister in Isolo to commemorate the 15th anniversary of his passing. Barrister, a pioneer of Fuji music, was born on February 9, 1948, in Ibadan and passed away on December 16, 2010, at the age of 62.
The event highlighted a rare moment of camaraderie between two Fuji heavyweights, Saheed Osupa and Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, who were seen smiling and interacting amicably throughout the occasion. Fans praised the artists for embracing peace despite their long-standing past rivalries.
Veteran musician Ayinla Kollington, reflecting on his friendship with Barrister, said, “I have nothing to say than to pray for my friend. May Almighty Allah grant him Aljannah Firdaus.”
Other notable attendees included Waka music icon Salawa Abeni, Fuji veteran Adewale Ayuba, President of the Fuji Musicians Association of Nigeria (FUMAN) S.K. Sensation, singer Adio Atawewe, Yoruba actor and chanter Baba Ajobiewe, Fuji Sandoka Alhaji Isola Yoboro, Islamic singer Alhaja Medinat Barrytide, and Barrister’s grandson BarryJhay, among several industry colleagues and admirers.
The gathering served as a poignant tribute to Barrister’s enduring influence on the African music scene and his contributions to Fuji music.
