Lagos In Turmoil! Igbokwe Blasts Obasa’s Bold Move To Reclaim Speaker’s Seat

An All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Joe Igbokwe, has reacted with disbelief to Mudashiru Obasa’s insistence that he remains the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly despite his reported impeachment.……READ MORE 

On Thursday, Obasa arrived at the assembly complex with armed police officers, asserting that his removal did not follow due process and was therefore invalid.

Sharing a news article on Facebook, Igbokwe questioned the unfolding political drama in the Lagos Assembly, expressing deep concern over the leadership crisis.

He wrote:
“What is happening in Lagos, the Center of Excellence? Who is behind this game of musical chairs? When elders are absent, children may wear snakes as necklaces. If you call your boat useless, children will use it to play football. I am stunned into disbelief. Unless this is not the Lagos I know.”

In January, Obasa was impeached while in the United States over alleged misappropriation of funds and other misconduct. Mojisola Meranda was sworn in as his replacement with the backing of the Lagos State Governance Advisory Council (GAC).

However, upon returning to Nigeria, Obasa dismissed his impeachment as unconstitutional, declaring it null and void.
