Shocking: Oluwo Demands To Be Addressed As ‘His Imperial Majesty’ – Here’s Why!

Oluwo highlighted that, unlike other towns where rulers were promoted from the title of Baale (local chief) to Oba (king), Iwo has never had a Baale. Therefore, he believes that any Oluwo of Iwo should be recognized as His Imperial Majesty.

He stated: “The general public, especially admirers of The Paramount Ruler of Iwoland, should note that Oluwo is an Imperial Majesty, not His Royal Majesty.

“The stool of Oluwo holds the respect of the direct bloodline of Oduduwa. Unlike many other Yoruba thrones, Iwo’s stool was never upgraded from Baaleship; it is a natural Paramount crown from its origin. Oluwo is subordinate to none, having crowned over 30 Obas himself.

“As such, Oluwo should always be addressed as His Imperial Majesty. Any communication lacking the proper title will not be acknowledged. No general would want to be called a sergeant, just as no doctor would respond to being called a nurse.”

He urged the public, especially the people of Iwo, to honor his request and address him correctly.

Traditionally, other first-class Yoruba monarchs, like the Ooni of Ife, Alaafin of Oyo, and the Awujale of Ijebuland, are referred to as His Royal Majesty.
