C’River Assembly Proposes Major Boost To Political Appointments In LGAs
The Cross River State House of Assembly has introduced an amendment to the 2007 Local Government Law aimed at increasing political appointments across the Local Government Areas (LGAs). The bill, proposed..C’River Assembly Proposes Major Boost To Political Appointments In LGAs
by Rt. Hon. Davies Etta, seeks to raise the number of appointees in each LGA to 50, including new roles such as Special Advisers and Ward Relation Officers.
The bill also proposes that the Head of Local Government Administration (HOLGA) be upgraded to the rank of Permanent Secretary in the state public service, granting them additional rights and privileges.
Having passed both its first and second readings, the bill is now under review by a joint committee for further consultations.
