Labour Party Honors Legacy Of Datti Baba-Ahmed In Heartfelt Condolence Visit

Factional National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), Julius Abure, on Tuesday led members of the party’s National Executive Committee to pay a condolence visit to Dr. Datti Baba-Ahmed, the party’s 2023 vice-presidential candidate, following the death of his elder brother, Mouftah Baba-Ahmed. The visit was confirmed in a statement issued in Abuja by the LP National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh.
Mouftah Baba-Ahmed, aged 64, passed away last week in Madina, Saudi Arabia, after a brief illness. He was widely regarded as a seasoned businessman and a distinguished public servant. His burial was conducted in accordance with Islamic rites in the holy city.
During the visit, Abure lauded the late Mouftah’s contributions to society and offered prayers for the family’s comfort. “We know that this loss leaves a significant void in the family, but we trust God to bring solace and provide for the young family he left behind,” he said.
In response, Dr. Datti Baba-Ahmed expressed gratitude to the LP delegation for their support. “The family is deeply touched and proud of the party. We appreciate the Labour Party’s empathy and presence during this difficult time,” he said.
The Baba-Ahmed family is one of Northern Nigeria’s most prominent, with notable influence in politics, business, and education. Dr. Datti Baba-Ahmed, who gained national recognition as the 2023 vice-presidential candidate alongside Peter Obi, is also the founder and Pro-Chancellor of Baze University, Abuja. Another sibling, Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, recently served as Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Political Matters.
